Method for Updating Firmware (Web Interface)
Connect your computer to the E5172 router, either via Wi-Fi or by using an Ethernet cable connected to the router's LAN port.
Open a web browser and in the address bar, type the router's IP address (commonly 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.3.1, check the sticker on the bottom of your specific device for the exact IP).
Log in to the management page using your credentials (default username and password are often admin, check the sticker if different).
Navigate to the update section. This is usually found under More Functions > Manage Updates.
Check for updates by clicking the Update Now or Check for updates button.
Install any detected new firmware. The router will download and install it automatically if available. The process should not be interrupted (e.g., do not disconnect the power supply).
Important Considerations
Online Updates: For most consumer Huawei routers, the "latest version" is provided directly through this online update feature if one is available and applicable to your device's specific model variant (e.g., E5172s-22, E5172s-920, E5172s-927, E5172As-22).
